Church Year Connections

Teaching Children about the Church Year

At its heart, the Church Year tells the Gospel, the life and work of Jesus for our forgiveness, life, and salvation. These resources help you relate the Church Year to children so they can grow in their knowledge of the Church Year and appreciate its impact on the Church’s worship. Use them to supplement your Sunday School, Day School, or Midweek lessons, Sunday worship services, or family devotions.

Church Year Connections Leader Guide

As your primary resource for Church Year Connections, the Leader Guide contains the basic resources for leading worship with children that links to the Church Year—an order for worship, readings, collects, songs and hymns, and object lessons—all tied to specific Sundays.

Church Year Connections: Year A provides materials that cover December 2016 to November 2017. Other annual volumes will cover an entire year of Sundays—from the First Sunday in Advent to the Last Sunday of the Church Year—using the three-year lectionary outlined in the Lutheran Service Book.

Future volumes, starting with Church Year Connections Year C, cover an entire year of Sundays—from the First Sunday in Advent to the last Sunday of the Church Year—using the three-year lectionary outlined in Lutheran Service book. Includes a CD.

Church Year Worship Kit

The visuals and ideas in this kit are designed to help you teach young children about the Church Year through activities and music to celebrate special occasions, and learn about key days and seasons of the Church Year. The kit includes a Leader Guide, posters, and a CD.
